Citation Transparency: Adds probabilistic gender info to Google Scholar and PubMed searches
Citation Transparency is a free Chrome add-on developed by citation.transparency.tools. This add-on aims to address the issue of gender bias in academic research by providing probabilistic gender information for first and last authors of papers in Google Scholar and PubMed searches.
In many fields, the citation rates for men and women do not align with their prevalence in the field, indicating a bias in the recognition of their contributions. To help mitigate this bias, Citation Transparency adds transparency to the search for references by displaying probabilistic gender information for authors.
By using this add-on, researchers can gain insights into the gender distribution of authors in their field of study, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of the research landscape. Citation Transparency is a valuable tool for promoting gender equality in academia and fostering a more inclusive research environment.
